Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know before getting started.

It’s completely normal to have questions before trying hypnotherapy. Here you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about hypnosis, sessions and what you can expect when working with me.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis alongside therapeutic techniques to help you focus your attention and explore thoughts, feelings and patterns in a calm, relaxed state. Sessions are centred around your individual goals and the changes you’d like to work towards.

During hypnosis, you’ll be guided into a deeply relaxed and focused state. You remain aware of what’s happening while your attention becomes more focused, allowing us to explore helpful suggestions, perspectives and patterns connected to your goals.

No. Despite the name, hypnosis isn’t the same as being asleep. You’ll usually remain aware of what is happening and be able to hear and respond throughout the session.

No. You remain in control throughout the session. Hypnotherapy isn’t like stage hypnosis, and you cannot be made to do something against your wishes.

People seek hypnotherapy for many different reasons. Amanda’s practice focuses on areas including anxiety and stress, confidence and self-belief, unwanted habits, overwhelming emotions and feeling stuck or wanting to make positive changes.

Because everyone’s circumstances are different, Amanda will discuss what you’d like support with before deciding whether hypnotherapy may be appropriate for you.

Your first session gives you and Amanda an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to hypnotherapy, what you’d like to change and what you hope to achieve.

Amanda can also explain the process, answer your questions and make sure you feel comfortable before moving forward.

There isn’t a single number that suits everyone. The number of sessions can depend on your goals, circumstances and how you respond to the process.

Amanda will discuss this with you based on your individual needs rather than placing everyone into the same programme.

Amanda offers hypnotherapy in the RG7 area, with her dedicated therapy space currently being prepared.

For privacy, the exact address can be provided directly to confirmed clients rather than displayed publicly on the website.

Your privacy is important, and sessions are intended to provide a private and supportive environment.

Amanda can explain her confidentiality policy, including any professional or legal limits to confidentiality, before you begin working together.

Hypnotherapy isn’t necessarily appropriate for every person or every situation. That’s one reason Amanda prefers prospective clients to make an enquiry first.

You can discuss what you’re experiencing, what you’d like support with and whether hypnotherapy appears to be an appropriate option for you.

Start by completing the enquiry form on the contact page and telling Amanda a little about what brings you to hypnotherapy.

You can also provide your preferred method of contact and the best time of day for Amanda to contact you. She’ll then get in touch to discuss your enquiry and the next steps.

You’re very welcome to get in touch. If there’s something you’d like to know before making an enquiry, contact Amanda and she’ll be happy to answer your questions.
